Get Involved!

Providing a rich and fulfilling student experience

With our spacious setting and rural location, we’re fortunate to provide our students with an extensive range of facilities, equipment and extra-curricular opportunities.

Taking part in extra-curricular activities at Ellesmere enriches learning, aids the development of social skills and allows students to explore new opportunities. By providing a wide variety of art, sport and cultural activities, we encourage our students to become fully involved in school life.

Sports programmes

Our sports facilities include a large gymnasium, tennis and netball courts, a dance studio, soccer and rugby fields and a cricket pitch.

We offer a wide range of sports at Ellesmere, including rugby, swimming, basketball, tennis, equestrian and netball.

The Ellesmere sport teams compete in a number of inter-school fixtures and sporting competitions at local, regional and national levels.

Arts and culture

Music, arts and culture are very important at Ellesmere College and we have numerous different classes and specialities in this field.

As well as national music competitions, yearly school productions and Stage Challenge, students can take part in a variety of after-school clubs. From chess to Kapa Haka, debating to coding, there’s something for every student!

Overseas excursions

In the past, students have had the opportunity to go on various overseas trips with the school, enhancing cultural learning and broadening their worldview.

Prior to Covid-19 we held a number of annual and biannual language and culture trips, such as those to Japan, hosted by our sister school Urawa Minami Senior High School, the Cook Island and the USA. Other excursions have included an adventure to Cambodia for World Challenge and the Gold Coast for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
